You all were/are wonderful. We are so thankful the Lord led us to you! Thank you for serving us and for loving our family during Gabriel’s time in utero and his entrance to the world!
Really, it could not have been a more perfect birth! Although, I have learned not to envy women who birth their babies in three pushes, as a longer pushing phase is definitely more comfortable (within reason)! Penny and the team seemed to know the perfect balance between giving us our privacy and being there to rejoice with us and make sure we were comfortable. And when they left, my mom took excellent care of us and Lil Jordan, and we were able to spend the day enjoying our baby and becoming a family of four. I am so thankful for the good midwife we have found, as well as the incredible assistants she has, and also for the good birth experiences. God has really been very good to our family, and we are SO grateful! – Read William’s full birth story here.
I am so grateful for Penny because, had it not been for her, I’m not sure how long I could have continued breastfeeding at that rate. I was crying every time I had to feed him. But things are 100% better now. He latches – and eats – like a champ, every time. – Read Calvin’s full birth story here
My favorite thing about each visit was spending time getting to know the women who would actually be attending my birth. Getting time with Penny was very important to me. I loved every second of my whole birth experience! Maybe actually pushing [my son] out was the most incredible feeling in the world (even though I needed a little help with his shoulders). The gentle reminders to take deep breathes, the positive reactions to things at the time don’t seem positive, and your gentle care for me and my baby during my postpartum hemorrhage were so amazing! Gretchen and Tamrha are amazing!! Your website was helpful, especially reading the birth stories and I became friends with another client thanks to your facebook group. I love that Penny knows so much about essential oils and herbs, and that you have them available in the boutique and office. I never met a single person I didn’t instantly love. I will use this practice for my primary care and will attend future events even though it means a two hour trip each way!

“With every visit, my husband became more comfortable with home-birth. The first trimester, he was very nervous and not okay with a home birth because he thought all a midwife could do was “boil water,” so to speak. I insisted that he come to most of the prenatal visits (not that he didn’t want to, it just interferred w/ his work schedule) and after each visit, he was impressed w/ Penn + staff’s thoroughness, medical skill, and how they had very good preparations in the event of an emergency. Thank-you for taking time to answer his questions and put his concern at ease.”
“My favorite part of the prenatal care was the good conversation and quality time spent at each visit. I love how my birth was my own and not someone (such as people in the hospital) telling us what to do! It’s very nice how quiet and respectful you all were and how you are there when we need you, but do not detract from our experience at all. Your serene support definitely enhanced our wonderful birth! Thank you!! We have enjoyed the website, facebook group, and the boutique as well.”
The Believe Midwifery team was with us the whole time and was so supportive even as I labored in the hospital. They were with us to the end when Gretchen came in to see me during recovery. She even followed up with me a couple times during my hospital stay and gave me breast feeding support. We were so pleased with our experience at Believe Midwifery and we certainly plan to use them again for our next birth which we hope will be a VBAC home birth. Someday I hope that Believe Midwifery’s Facebook status will read: “Baby tucked in bed with mom and dad, waiting to meet big sister Ellyana when she wakes up!” – Read Ellyana’s full birth story here.
All I could do was laugh and I remember saying “ you’re kidding me!!” I couldn’t believe such a huge baby had just come out of me. He was 11 pounds and 22 ½ inches, and I can’t help but think that if I had delivered in a hospital they would have advise me to have a csection for sure. I hope that this will empower women and show them that our bodies ARE made for this; its what we were designed for, and they ARE capable of delivering big babies. – Read Levi’s full birth story here
